Every day of the year is a great time for birding at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park, and we welcome you to come see all it has to offer! With a total of 239 bird species spotted at the park over the past few years, you will find different families of birds throughout the year. In our bird gallery you will find many photos of the species that have been spotted in the park.

Phinizy Swamp Nature Park is an Audubon designated Global Important Bird Area.

Additionally, Phinizy’s rich habitat provides a home to a variety of wildlife such as the River Otter, Alligator and the elusive Bobcat. Visitors can experience the thrill of hearing Kingfisher and the chorus of a thousand Tree Frogs, or delight in the myriad of summer Dragonflies. Find out more about the park here.

As a hotspot for birds, it would only be natural for the Phinizy Center to offer field ornithology (birdwatching) classes – and we do! Check out our Field Ornithology classes, and keep an eye out for shorter upcoming workshops.
