Rain Gauge at Rae's Creek
Rain Gauge at Rae’s Creek

Project Dates: 2014 – Present

Through a partnership with the Augusta-Richmond County Engineering Department, Phinizy Center is developing a network of rain gauges and creek level loggers in Augusta-Richmond County. Our current network consists of 4 stations that continuously measure and record rainfall and water level at 15-minute intervals in the Rock Creek and Raes Creek watersheds.  Ultimately, our network will include 30 rainfall gauges with water level loggers in the seven major watersheds of the county.  Using this data, we will learn how much water is going to each creek for a given amount of rain, how stormwater quantity affects water quality within these creeks, and how other watershed parameters will help model creek capacity so best management practices in each watershed can be developed.
