Forest Communities Hike: Hitchcock Woods – Aiken
October 13 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
This is a study of the Coastal Plains Sandhills. We start the hike in a mesic hardwood bottom and climb to a Longleaf Pine community. We will also cross a xeric site with scrub oaks as well as pass a gum swamp. This trail can be difficult with deep sand on a sloping terrain. Horses may be present.
