Forest Communities Hike: Wine Creek / Turkey Creek Trail in Sumter National Forest
October 6 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
This is a study of the Piedmont slope. We start in a classic Oak – Pine – Hickory Forest and watch the transition to Oak – Hickory Forest. We will also note the change from a dry to a dry mesic forest as well as a riparian zone along Wine Creek. This trail is mostly easy walking on a gentle slope, but does include a small session along the creek with some rocks as well as a rocky creek crossing.
