General Nature Photography Workshop

Overview
See Phinizy Swamp Nature Park in a brand new way after this workshop on basic nature photography by Ed Belinski (see bio below), covering the use of digital cameras. The workshop will discuss camera techniques for the three genres of nature photography: scenic, wildlife, and close-ups (flowers and insects).
Where
The morning’s activities will begin in the Education Classroom at the Nature Park’s main campus.
How to Prepare
Bring any photography equipment you already have and wear comfortable walking shoes. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable old shoes (It may get muddy). Bring water and avoid wearing scents, such as perfume, hairspray, lotion, etc.
What to Expect
Guests will begin the morning with an interactive presentation on nature photography and how to capture nature scenes with their digital cameras. Following the presentation a guided walk along the Park’s boardwalk will give participants picture-taking opportunities along with a chance to practice their new skills. Restrooms are available. Class limit is 15.
In case of heavy rain or thunderstorms, the event will be cancelled. If cancelled, you can transfer the registration fee to a future tour, donate the fee to Phinizy Center, or receive a refund.

ED BELINSKI, M.Ed., Cr. Photog., ABI, PPA Certified, GSD, began taking photographs in middle school, continuing through high school and using his skill to pay for college and graduate school. He has photographed studio portraits, professional sports, commercial and aerial assignments but always returns to his love of portrait and nature photography. He currently specializes in environmental portraiture, taking photographs of people and families in an environment where they feel comfortable. He presents workshops around the country to professional photographers in the area of business and marketing. Ed spends his time in Augusta teaching digital photography and Photoshop classes at GRU, The Morris Museum of Art, the Phinizy Swamp Nature Park, and the MAKC in McCormick, SC. He is currently the Lead Instructor and program developer of the Photography Certificate Program at GRU. Ed is a founding member of the Augusta Photography Festival, a biennial celebration of the photographic arts in Augusta that attracts national speakers and photographic competition entries worldwide.
