Callie Oldfield, PhD

RESEARCH DIRECTOR

Callie grew up in rural Tennessee, spending her days catching crayfish and exploring forests. After graduating from Sewanee: The University of the South, she worked as a Post-baccalaureate Fellow with the Sewanee Herbarium and as Undergraduate Sustainability Coordinator. Callie received a PhD in Plant Biology from the University of Georgia, with a research focus in ecological responses to disturbance, wetland landuse change, and botany. As Research Director, Callie shapes the direction of Phinizy Center research program, acquires grants and funding, and communicates with collaborators. Outside of work, Callie enjoys looking at plants, drawing, and spending time with her cats Poppy and Fennel.
